Great news .....Lefty , the dear sidekick of Pancho, will be able to be spared!!!!!

My doctor is going to go ahead with a "lumpectomy" which will spare Lefty. (although they need to take about 25% of it). Soooooo...lucky me I get to visit with a plastic surgeon this week to upgrade Lefty when it is all healed.

I guess it will be known as the New and Improved Lefty? Inflatable Lefty?......

I'm baccccccckkkkkkk....
Sorry about the vacation. Now that the holidays have come and gone I will not be doing my O.J Simpson impressions for awhile (no...not wearing mysterious black gloves and writing tell all books) but running through airports to catch the next plane.

Well this new year is already off to a BAD start. I had an unsual mammogram/ultra-sound in early December. So, this week I went for a my biopsies.

The news that one never wants to hear is now my reality. I have Stage 1 "Breast C". I cannot even spell out the word. Anyway, I am in good hands with an excellent surgeon here. I am going to have to get a modified radical masectomy (basically removal and reconstruction of my beloved "Lefty") Pancho is unharmed at this time and will carry on .

I have to talk to some plastic surgeons btw. now and my scheduled surgery.

Anyway, form what I know my prognosis is about 98% recovery. All I can say is be pro-active on your health!!!!

Remember when tanning was in? Well, no more my friends.

About a week ago I went to my dermatologist to get two (not one!) but two basal cell melanomas removed. Yep, I had skin cancer from the big ball in the sky.

Thankfully, my docor called and confirmed that they successfully removed all the cancerous cells.

So instead of two melanomas I now will have two scars one on each side of my legs.

I've affectionitely named them "Lurch" and "Uncle Fester". (not ever be confused with my boobs-Pancho and Lefty).

But what a new addition Lurch and Uncle Fester will make.....

Thursday at work I overhead that a 5th grade girl brought a vibrator to school.

She explained to her male 5th grade teacher, "It relaxes me and makes me feel REALLY good."

He told his 5th grade female co-teacher that he had " A female non-dress code issue for her to work with." I think this incident took exactly 30 minutes to make its way through the entire school!

At least its better than bringing a gun to school. Vibrators for everyone!!!!!!

As some of you all know I have recently taken up the game of golf again.

It has been a more positive experience than it was 6 years ago....when I got rid of my clubs....hahaha
anyway, I am making good progress (according to my golf group and teacher).

Now .......gasp...horrors....egads...its time to go out on an ACTUAL course.

Anyone have any good ideas , recommendations for some courses in Austin? Any one out there brave enough to go with me????

Another ACL has come and gone...sigh. Here are my top 5 or so musical (not crowd, food, beverage or clothing related moments) from ACL.

#5. Not being able to hear Willie Nelson - and having people chant "turn it up", "turn it up"- as in the amplifiers

#4 Flaming Lips and their unusual stage show- hey it was complete with space aliens and santa claus's. It is Austin so
I could understand space aliens....but Santa Claus's?!?!?!? I don't know what these dudes put in their coffee in the
morning ,but it sure must be good.....hehhe

#3 Gnarls Barkley- Too bad I didn't know about his "pre-show" at Stubb's on Thursday night- this guy rocks!!!
Will probably also be the next new contestant on "Celebrity Weighloss"- along with the likes of Carnie Wilson

#2 Matisyahu- let's hear it for forming a new "genre" of music - Hasidic Jewish reggae, rap!!! I'm hoping it will catch
on ....this guy sold out Stubb;'s earlier this year in 4 hours for his show. Plus aren't we all sick of looking at Britney

#1 Ben Kweller- Kudos go out to this guy. He had a massive nose-bleed in the middle of his performance and asked for
help.......via a tampon! He shoved a tampon up his nose so he could continue playing. Now , he has true ACL spirit (I also heard that he and his wife are currently looking for a place to live in Austin).

ESPN College Game Day Radio crew arrived promptly a half hour late on Friday afternoon. This meant that I was unable to meet up with them until the BIG DAY-SATURDAY!!!!!

Fast forward to Saturday:
2:30 p.m. arrive at Scholz's Beer Garden and go straight to ESPN Radio set-up. Met by Patrick Ferguson (Marketing for ESPN out of Dallas), Lonnie-production man, Daryl O'Neal (ESPN Radio local media guy), Keith Goralski (Senior ESPN Radio producer-aka my brothers "handler"). Go to ESPN Radio area and hang out all day....

3:45 p.m. (approx) Desmond Howard (Heisman Trophy winner for Michigan) comes to make commentary on ESPN College Game Day Radio- talk with him briefly and he congratulates me on having twins....err....what?!?!?!? Then he asks me if I'm Dave Revsine's wife. I said no, I'm his sister......anyway, then he apologizes and we talk about the upcoming game. Really nice guy and shorter than I though he';s be.

3:45-6:00-Hob-nob, pick on OSU fans and throw out general ESPN swag.

6:30-arrive at game and have great seats in the 4th row of the student section (great view of the Longhorn end zone) and field.

7:30ish-notice that LeBron James (Cleveland Cavalier player) is at the game with no less than 5 other people in his posse!!! Scary that he gets on the field!!!! Evidently he is from Cleveland or Toledo or somewhere in Ohio and stands on the Ohio State side.

9:00ish-notice that Matthew McConaghey is on UT side-line -appears to be "under the influence" of something.....stupdity? general whatever? Who knows.....

10:00ish game mercifully and sadly ends and go meet up with friends to drown UT sorrows.....

BTW- Did anyone know that a "Buckeye" is a giant poisonous nut and that the team mascot name is "Brutus the Buckeye". Still not as cool a mascot as Bevo or Bucky the Badger (my alma-mater from Wisconsin who by the way beat Western -Illinois!!!!!)

Yep, I finally did it....

I got a new set of golf clubs. They are totally stylin' and with my great new stand bag ( beer cooler is with the bag!) I am ready to hit the greens. Well, at least take some nice beers to the greens...

Should be interesting as my brother who is an on-air personality for ESPN College Game Day Radio and SportsCenter will be in town this next weekend for the big UT/Ohio State Game. He is a pretty good golfer with about a 12-13 handicap. (I just want to hang with him..) lol

Weekend Review

Last weekend started pretty easily;

Friday- Went to go see Tommy Chong speak at Book People-glad I got there early as 250 other people decided that he would be great to listen to as well. He was great, very much like he was with Cheech Marin and also on that 70;'s Show. I suggest to read his book "I Chong" which is a take off on "I Ching"..he wrote it while he was in prison for selling a "water-pipe" to an undecover DEA agent on-line. Whatever....don;t the feds have better things to do than arrest Tommy Chong?

Saturday- Chom Son Volunteer party...what more can I say?!?!?! Great food, great company and a GREAT place to be!!!!

Cannot wait to eat more yummy food there :) Let the pictures that @ss Gagger and others took speak for themselves...bwahahaha . Can anyone say karoake? Wow...karoake overload....

Evidently, hair color (blonder, brunette red-head) is a hot topic in Europe.

Seems that in this study they found that people dye their hair red when they want something to "change" in their life. The study showed that women with red hair got the most attention from men.

Being born a red-head and having had red-hair my entire life I wanted to call in and beg to differ.

Ok, now for the scoop. No, I have not found "extra-curricular" work as a circus act or sold myslef into white slavery. I went to the golf driving range for the first time in six years with CHERRY POPPER.

So there we were with CP's Dad's old clubs when I mean old they still had all the original grips on them and everything. Not great to hit with , but quite the collectors item!

After buying a bucket of 60 balls and demo-ing out two clubs we were on our way! 60 balls later we decided we didn't suck (directionality was an issue) but we went for the big bucket of balls. Who can think of more fun on a Thursday afternoon than a big bucket of 100 balls?!?!?!

Getting pointers from the kids next to us we figured out how to "whack" those balls pretty far.
After about 2 hours of grabbing shafts and whacking balls it was margarita time......off to Baby A's and now Guerro's.

Chicago Part Dos is now over. Whew!
My brother and my oldest niece came into town last Wednesday night and it was non-stop action from there. Did I mention that my niece is 4 1/2? Anyway, last Friday we went to go and see the Cirque Shanghai at Navy Pier ( very cool if anyone is going to Chicago very soon). Similiar to the other Cirque de Soleil's except this one is from China.

So...we get to Navy Pier and go and scope out the deal. It is outside under a HUGE outdoor pavillion with ....get...this NO air conditioning, fans etc. No, problem its Chicago right? Wrong. It was 95 degrees that day with little to no wind. Anyway, once I got used to sweating bullets my focus was on the Cirque Shanghai.

Cool stunts, death defying trapezee stunts etc. My favorite thought were the young women who could contort their bodies into various gymnastic poses. I think these women/ young girls hav eno spines. Anyway, what is the attraction to contortion artists anyway? Someone explain this to me......

The boy King- KING TUT

The last time this exhibit was in Chicago was 1975 or so. So, now that I'm a few years older I decided it was about time to see King TUT.

As I was walking through and looking at the 5,000 + year old aritfacts - Steve Martin's "King Tut" was constantly going through my head. The exhibit itself was amazing with many jeweled ankh's, masks, and even actual mummies.

I started thinking that being "mummified" isn't so bad. You get to be buried with many of your favorite things to assist in the afterlife. I guess my tomb would include: my running shoes, my Ipod, my Chi flat iron and possibly ...a...er...a vibrator. What would you all choose to bring to the afterlife?

So there I was on the Southside of Chicago hoping that the World Champion White Sox would beat the Texas ST(rangers). How wrong I was....

Myself, Mudsucker, Too Loose, Are They Real and many other CH3ers were heartbroken when are White Sox lost to the St(R)angers 5-2. At least the fireworks were good afterwards...

Can anyone say swan-dive? Now the Yankes are only 1 game back of the Sox for the wild card and Minnesota is only 2 1/2 games behind the Sox. Gasp!

Invasion of the Dallacites and NAMM....

Austin is the music capitol of Texas...maybe even the United States...
So, to no surprise that the Summer NAMM Session was held here at the Austin Convention Center.
Some of the Dallas party crew came down to partake in NAMM, drink, eat and drink some more.
After starting the festivities at Houlihan's at 1:30 p.m. we proceeded to drink many Michaelada's, beers, martini's etc.
Then it was off to NAMM to see the Playmate of the Year -Kara Monaco.....

Can anyone say airbrushed? Geez...not a real thing on that women's body. Made me think though..does the world need Playboy Playmates to help promote music? Can you still have music without the hottie? Opinions....

Yep, it was that time of year again ..for me to lay trail. For those of you out there who don't know by now (and those who found out yesterday....sorry about that:) I'm not the best with directions.

so there I was with my wonderful co-hare Wicked Itch we were laying trail through lovely shiggy. We decided to speed up laying trail by splitting up. (This is where the directionally challemged part comes in). Wicked gives me a map and says - follow this and lay the street part of the trail. So up I went through the shiggy to where I thought was the part of the trail I was going to lay.

After about an hour of wandering around ( and laying disfunctional trail) I realised I was lost. So what did I do? I found a really , really nice (and cute) guy to borrow a phone from. Did I mention he was cute and his name is Brett. Anyway, I call my co-hare who is laughing as she said she realised I had been lost. She comes to fetch me at the really cute guy (Bretts) house.

We finish trail (the disfunctional part still out there)...
We do chalk talk and send the hares off ( I remind them if they see any yellow chalk that they are LOST). I think that trail is going to go great until the first beer check. What you ask could go wrong? Well, the beer hadn't shown up yet and there were no cups for the water. OK, I hear you all out there...yes...it was a technical difficulty.....DOH!

So..I got a nice head full of beer when it did show up for not having beer promptly at the beer check and having some people follow the disfunctional part of trail......

I have a feeling I'll be punished for a long time :)

There was great beer, corn dogs and calf fries..(EWWWW!)

So after a few beers I start looking at the guyplaying the drums ..hmm.."Could that be Shooter Jennings?" So, me being me I asked some people if that was Shooter Jennings. They said they thought it was. So when he was done with his set I walked up to him and said " I've always wanted to meet you." He said great my name is "Matt Barnfield". I was just reflecting back to a few months ago when I had some serious "drama" going on in my life. For those people who knew about it (you know who you all are out there) BIG KUDOS and MANY THANKS for being that shoulder to cry on and that ear to talk too.

One of the COME TO JESUS talks I remember fondly was with DTBW. Granted, it was at a bar in Austin where things I remember were kinda fuzzy...... Massive thanks to you bro for giving me another perspective about someone we;ll just call PERSON IN DENIAL. Without everyone's input and many "JESUS" talks later I might not be in the better situation that I am now.

1. ZIPPY -needs no explanation if you've been hashing. A dear, dear hasher who forever is now known for his trails. Never leave camp!

2. ZOLOFT- Similiar to PROZAC, CELEXA etc...I wish I had some of this so I could handle the meeting I'm about to go into! I think all places of work should have coffee, soft drinks and prozac. The work place would be much nicer.....as for getting things done....who knows?

3. ZIEGENBOCK- Wish I had a six-pack of this on my desk right now. Would make lunch time much, much, better

4. ZIGGY -ZAG, ZIGGY -ZAG-yup, another hash favorite. If you don't know this saying then evidently you've not been staying around for circle. Shame on you...and many down-downs.

5. ZOOT-SUITS- never really in fashion and never really out of fashion. Just a plain fashion faux-pas if you ask me.

6. ZORRO- A swahbuckling hero that was portrayed by (among others) Antonio Banderas. There is also a "Zorro the Gay-blade" which I have not seen ....any out there seen it?

7. and 8.ZERO, ZILCH- kinda obvious.......

9. ZEALOUS- really having lots of enthusiasm. Kinda like when its 4:30 and time for me to leave work...I get really ZEALOUS

10. ZITS- I thought I was done with these pesky little buggers when I was in my teens. But, nooooooo guess these guys like to plague everyone...even into adulthood. Thank goodness for good concealing make-up!

1. Am deathly afraid of crossing bridges over water, cows and clowns. Imagine if cows dressed up as clowns on a regular basis....YIKES!

2. Lived in Saltillo, Coahuila Mexico for two years and did not speak a word of Spanish when I moved there

Go BADGERS!!!!! It was a cool game last night #1 Wisconsin and Boston College from Milwaukee, WI. ....land of cheese, hockey and beer.

Anyway, this is the Badgers 6th NCAA Hockey title since 1990!!! pretty cool, eh?

SXSW-Antics BLOGGER /CHRONICLE PARTY

So there I was a typical Monday wondering what to do...
One of my friends in the soft-ware industry tells me about this party for BLOGGER at CLUB-DE-VILLE that starts at 6:30. I'm thinking "net-work, techie geeks?" hmmm........let's go check it out!

We get there at about 6:45 and the line is curling around the block.....we meet some people covering some bands for an Italian music magazine in Milan. Finally, after about 30 minutes in line we get into CLUB-DE-VILLE. Free food,open bar and lots, and lots of computer , techie geeks. Somehow, I missed out on the free BLOGGER t-shirts and caps........damn it.

Some of the people I do remember meeting are; DAN FREED and KINGA (?) of GOOGLE INTERACTIVE TV out of San. Francisco California, MICHAEL HERNANDEZ for (SI) spanish language tv out of los angeles. Many , many cool , cool people and great, FREE foo, open bar and a dj.

After spending about 30 minutes walking around I hear..."Hey on-on.......BRRR...". I stop and wonder...hmmm....hasher I know from out of town? We turn around and it is none other than Austin's own, "FLASH". He asks me what I'm doing here and what I think of this party etc. Then tells us about the CHRONICLE PARTY with TRISH MURPHY/CHARLIE SEXTON going on later that night at La Zona Rosa. We hang out for a little while longer at the BLOGGER party and then go over to LA ZONA ROSA.

The CHRONICLE party was far less cool.....well...let me explain. This was the Film party and NOT the interactive crew. The people were great to people watch but FAR less approachable than the BLOGGER party. It was definetely more L.A. hits Austin...

Managed to meet again some really cool people and ran into "SOCIAL RETARD" at about midnight. Also saw Austin Mayor WILL WYNN cruising LA ZONA ROSA and jamming to CHARLIE SEXTON. Great to see all the Austinites out supporting great events...

Spring Training....Baseball is BACK!!!!!

Today was not a great day in baseball as a Minnesota Twin legend passed away...Kirby Puckett.....
He was one of my favorite players.

On a brighter note though...SPRING TRAINING is in full swning ( no pun intended :) My "desk" boyfriends /bobbleheads: Paulie Konerko, Johnny Damon and Jason Varitek are ready for another thrilling season. (BTW- they are all "HGH" Human Growth Hormone free....serious plastic...but to the best of my knowledge "HGH" free) unlike Barry Bonds...sad, really.

Atlhough, I have to now paint a NEW YORK YANKEES uniform on my BOSTON RED-SOX JOHNNY DAMON...grrr....
At least, PAUL KONERKO and JASON VARITEK stayed true to their teams.....wooohoo. BTW- if you are ever at a loss for what to get me as a gfit my desk bobblehead team is always looking for more players.....

Anyway, baseball always brings back memories for me of sitting at Wrigley Field or US Cellular Field (formerly Comiskey Park) in Chicago. It all started in 1995 with a former neighbor of mine, STEVE SAX (former Rookie of the Year for the LA DODGERS). Fast forward to the elevator at about 11:00 p.m. on a Sunday night....STEVE SAX coming back from a road-trip, me coming back from San Francisco. I said , "Where are the doormen when you need them to help with your luggage?!?!?" haha

One quick elevator trip later .....we had plans to lay by the pool the next day. I had NO idea who this guy was.....I found out real fast. At the pool, my friend , flight attendant for United and former ST. LOUIS CARDINAL p.r. person, says "Holy crap, That's STEVE SAX!!!!!" Again, I had NO idea...I just looked at her and said , "We met last night coming up in the elevator from trips...."

Well, a few more times of laying at the pool, dinner and a few drinks I finally figured out who put the "WHORE" in the "MANWHORE"....it was STEVE SAX!!! Don't let that cameo role on the t.v. show the "SIMPSONS" fool you...SAXIE boy is a full fledged "MANWHORE". (only rivaled at that time by WADE BOGGS and MAUDE ADAMS) Who knew he was just separated and had kids?!?!?!? I was just freshly divorced...silly me.

Bagel Fest 5K- Where's the Schmear and Coffee???

The annual BAGEL FEST 5K at the DELL JCC here in Austin started out on a better note than last year. This year they had police coverage for the streets and no driving rain to delay the start for 30 minutes. YIPEE!!!

Morning festivities began with getting my chip and talking with fellow GILBERT'S GAZELLE's runners and ROGUE runner and trainer extradinaire: RUTH ENGLAND.
Not more than 5 minutes later the Gov his , RICK PERRYness,comes on over to make small talk.....jimney x-mas this guy made EXTREMELY small talk! (Well he was wearing his Texas A& M racing shirt) then after some truly gnaw your arm off boring conversation "The GOV" decided that us unimportant GILBERT"S GAZELLE's weren't worth talking to he walked up and started chatting with PAUL CARROZZA (owner of RUNTEX.) I hope they had a far more stimulating conversation.....yea.....whatever! Hope the bats under the Congress Avenue bridge invade the capital building.

Finally , race time came and we all lined up (including THE GOV and his secret service goons...) Anyway, a quick 21 minutes through the neighborhood and I was ready for a bagel! This year's race was a little bigger so, instead of being 2nd overall woman I was 5th (damn 14 year old girls!!!!! ;LOL) Anyway, went in and the bagels were flowing like water......all flavors. Even Krispy Kreme donuts....PUT DOWN THE KRISPY KREME the voice in my head said!!!

I broke down and had a chocolate chip bagel . (damn KRISPY KREMES) I started to look for some cream cheese (schmear) to break up the chewiness of the bagel. no luck....no schmears, no hot chocolate, no coffee, no Sprite , nada, nothing! I was wondering if the "GOV" had hid a secret stash somehwere?!?!?!?

So after many minutes of standing around awards were handed out (1st age group for me!!!) and it was time for my massage!
My massage was pretty decent 10 minute FREE massage,...did I mention it was FREE???? Anyway, couldn't beat the price. After the massage, awards and chewy bagels I looked around to see who was still there....no more "GOV", no more PAUL CARROZZA (of RUNTEX) and no more GILBERT"s GAZELLE's.

It was finally time to escape the Bagel Fest 2006 before the Purim Carnival began at the DEll JCC. I wonder if the "GOV" came back for the Purim carnival........

If any of you out there have ever dealt with ahtletic sponsorhsip (shoes, races, teams, product) you know its BRUTALLY competitive. In the past, I have been blessed with always having good sponsor from the time I was in high school playing tennis (WILSON RAQUETS, ELLESSE CLOTHES, TOURNAGRIP etc.) to post -college with running.

Well 2006 started out with a bang as a former sponsor NIKE was back on the band-wagon with shoes , clothes and running gigs (they would even pay me!!!!) WOOOHOOOO!!!! SHOW ME THE CLIENTS....

Fast forward to February : NIKE kinda waffles on their deal with RUNTEX ( as they did in Dallas) ..WTF? I have shoes, clothes but no dates for the running gigs.......sad.

Then yesterday another former sponsor of mine POWERBAR sent me a package!!!! I think WOOOHOOO POWER BAR is up and running again aftger a two-year absence. I was one the phone today with an ex-boyfriend who had told me that I reminded him of a Barbie Doll. I was A LOT of fun to be around and always dressed sexy and fun. Kind of made me think though.....hmmm...

Barbie is a huge man-made piece of plastic. Was he insinuating that I reminded him of a large piece of plastic? Was i fun to play with sometimes, but not all the time? Anyway, it made me think of all the materialistic,plastic things in this world and I certainly didn't want to be one of them!

Nike/Fun Runs @ Runtex

Feb 27th (Monday)-Runtex Riverside-5:30 p.m.**** (unless my coach and City Sports editor Brian Hasenbauer tells me differently)
Myself and fellow tri-athlete Ben Kogut and I will be leading a group for 3-5 mile fun run and then talk about training, coaching etc.

Also need to give a big-up here to NIKE. They were one of my first sponors when I started competitive road racing 10 years ago. Since then I picked up over the years : Run On! (Dallas 1996-2000), Luke's Locker (Dallas 2000-2003), Active.com (2000-2003), PowerBar (2000-2002), Mizuno shoes (1998-2002), Gilbert's Gazelle's Training Group (2004-present) ...and now full circle back to NIKE.

Yep, at least houston wasn't a TOTAL waste of time. I 'm getting back to running form and placed 3rd in my age group. BTW- this race was a lot bigger than I thought as it was a HARRA race for points.

Most likely it seems.

Wisconsin has slipped to 7th position in the Big Ten. I remember not too long ago (maybe a month?) that they were in first place in the Big Ten.

Seems that the wheels have once again fallen off the cheese-wagon.

I have cried in one too many of my beers this week. The loss to Illinois was expected, but to lose to the last place team in the Big Ten.....all I can say is : WHAT THE F??!?!?!?!?!?!?

This is a pretty cool T.V. show that a friend of mine Duke Hillinger produces. He used to have a t.v. show called "Adrenaline TV" with hostesses like Angie Everhart. Yea.....models get all the ROUGH gigs.

Thursday Night at Bicycle Sport shop

What started out as me meeting my friend and former running coach Brian Hasenbauer of City Sport Magazine at Bicycle Sport Shop turned into a cool networking event. Can you say cool?!?!?!?

I get to Bicycle Sport shop at 7:00ish and the parking lot is packed! I find my way into the outside tent where I run into TARANTULA and SQUEAKYCHEEKS drinking beers and eating pizza. Luckily,my friends from RUNTEX are there and I manage to get a yummy beer.

After downing the beer I go and hear GARY FISHER of GARY FISHER MOUTAIN BIKES talk about where cycling/biking is going. The name BODE MILLER comes up as a great athlete who really doesn't put in a lot of training time....hmm....something I wish I could do! Meet up again with SQUEAKYCHEEKS and Brian of City Sport Magazine and talk about upcoming triathlons, the CLIF BAR PARTY on Feb, 9th at PURE AUSTIN and my running (TBD) program with NIKE/RUNTEX.

I spy GARY FISHER and the guy from SPECIALIZED talking and I go over and get GARY FISHER's e-mail and talk with him about training.... and I spy NO HANDS.

A few more beers were had and then it was on to Guerro's for some late night grub....
